London & Destination Documentary Photographer
engagement —- elopement —- maternity+family — wedding
Hello you,
I hope you’ve found your way here because one of my photos has given you a good feeling. As a former journalist, I approach my work like a documentarian-I’m there to bear witness to moments as they happen, not contrive them. I direct where needed but don’t interrupt or intervene in the natural set of events. To achieve this, you let me into your world and I observe. The photos are not overproduced or posed. This achieves a high-end editorial look and you look like your beautiful self.
With Love,
Sara
ENGAGEMENT
These shots are a great, stress-free opportunity to get pictures before your wedding. Unlike wedding day, you have all the time, nobody to answer to, and your only focus is having fun. It’s an excuse to dress up and get some beautiful photos for your Save the Date, wedding invites, or album keepsake.
I promise we’ll have fun with it. First, I’ll get to know you and the places that are meaningful in your life that would offer a nice backdrop. I won’t have you pose - instead the session will be an actual outing doing something you enjoy. It could be taking a walk by the sea, having a picnic in a local park, or going to your favorite coffee shop. These photos will be playful, comfortable, and reflect the two of you as a couple.
MATERNITY + FAMILY
I know how important it is to have better family photos than just a blurry iphone shot. I love babies and I’m particularly motivated by getting beautiful shots of mama and baby, either pre- or post-natal. It’s capturing the tender everyday moments that matters most- nursing baby, playing on the ground, cuddling while you make dinner. Or we could escape to the park for a fun family outing.
In this mini session, Nat welcomed me into her home while I played with baby and observed their everyday routine. These photos highlight the beauty in mundanity. A nappy change & feeding before off for a nap.
WEDDING + ELOPEMENT
I am not exclusively a wedding photographer, which also makes me the best person for the job if you want a fresh take. I believe this allows me to approach the day with energy and creative vision from other outlets (editorial magazine, film production, graphic design), not a templated check-list.
I am highly organized, detail oriented and confident enough to direct as much as you need me to on your big day. Some people feel more comfortable when the photographer is taking charge, others when they dim into the background. I work well in both.
Because I have an observational approach, my directing will not be too interventional, but rather enhance what’s already unfolding. Because I can visualize aesthetic composites after surveying the environment, this might mean moving you into a different light or recommending nice backdrops as you get ready. You being able to enjoy the day and get on with it is exactly what will produce the best photos.
CELEBRATION + LIFESTYLE
There are many other moments in your life that you might want to memorialize. I’d love to help!
